Post #6: What Prompted this Blog

This blog was created on May 9th 2008 to chronicle the construction of our new Romanelli & Hughes home. Here's why...

Our new subdivision is very close to our current home, which we move out of next week. And, it just so happens that DD6 & DS13 go to school nearby. So, it's very convenient for us to swing by the new house and check its progress on an almost-daily basis. I think the framers have already recognized my car; they wave & shout HI! when I drive by.

Not too long ago, we were out walking around the hole after the workers had left. The R&H Field Supervisor, John, happened to drive by. He saw us, recognized us, and actually got out of his truck to talk to us. He didn't have an appointment with us. Rather, he was on his way to an appointment. He stopped anyway, answered a question we had about debris in the ravine behind our house, looked at the freshly-dug hole with us, then left to go to his appointment. [The next day we noticed the clearing of some of the debris!]

Impressed by John's dedication, that's not the reason for this blog (although it certainly deserves mentioning).

Earlier this week, we were once again at our lot and were excited to see the beginnings of framing. While out walking around, we noticed a vehicle pulling into our court. There are no complete houses on our court and it was after 5pm, so there shouldn't necessarily be anyone there. I peered into the vehicle as it passed on its way out and I noticed it was Vince Romanelli (or someone who looked very much like him).

We've been involved with R&H since Februray 2008 and have seen one of the owners three times so far. I seriously doubt that'd happen with any other local builder and it didn't happen with builders we've used in the past.

It's important to us to know that the owners of R&H care so much about the homes they're building and that they're actively involved with their homebuyers.
